Download the Table of Contents and two sample chapters of
Practical Photoshop: Level 1 (in low resolution)
To get started, you can download a low-resolution PDF of the first three chapters of the book, the Overview & Tutorial 1, and Tutorial 2. These chapters describe the Photoshop interface, show you how to "carve" a pumpkin Photoshop style, and explain how to use the Save for Web dialog box.
- CS5 users: CS5-tut01 and CS5-tut02
- CS4 users: getting_started_CS4.pdf (848 kb). These chapters describe the CS4 interface, and explain how to use the Save for Web dialog box.
You should also download the pumpkin image to use with the step by step parts of Tutorial 1: 01-pumpkin.jpg.
If you need Adobe Reader (version 7 or higher), you can download it for free at: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html.
For each of the downloads, it works best to right-click (two button mouse) or control + click (one button mouse) and save the file to your hard drive or a flash disk rather than trying to open the pdf file in your browser. Once downloaded, open Adobe Reader or Acrobat, and then choose File > Open and navigate to your downloaded file. From there, you can either read the sample chapters on screen or print them.
- Table of Contents
- Overview and Tutorial Guidelines + Tutorial 1: Photoshop Basic (845 kb)s: getting_started.pdf.
- Also download the associated high-resolution working image:
