Welcome to www.practical-photoshop.com
We are excited to introduce our first Adobe® Photoshop® book, designed to guide you through the basic skills you need to become Photoshop CS4 proficient.
Our authors are all Adobe Certified Instructors in Adobe Photoshop and current or former community college instructors. Together, we have taught Photoshop to thousands of students, both in traditional classrooms and online.
In our 14+ years teaching Photoshop, we have learned firsthand from students of all ages which Photoshop skills they feel are the most essential, and also which Photoshop techniques they find the most difficult to master. We have used our students’ feedback to determine both the topics and the approach to the step by step tutorials in Practical Photoshop CS4: Level 1.
These tutorials do not cover all of Photoshop—instead we have tried to distill the important terms, skills, and techniques you will need to open, edit, create, save, and print Photoshop documents.Topics include:
- The Photoshop workspace and image navigation
- Preparing files for print and Web
- Selection
- Working with standard, type, and fill layers
- Painting and filling layers and selections
- Image management and Adobe® Bridge®
- Design principles
- Simple automations
- Correcting image tonality
- Adjusting image colors
- Painting with special tools
- Image restoration
- Fun with filters
As we present topics, we have used the Adobe Certified Associate criteria to cover the entry-level skills needed to "plan, design, build, and maintain effective communications" in using Adobe Photoshop and its sister appliction, Adobe Bridge.
